Do you like art?
Well you’re in luck. 1.2M OP (or ~$4M) is up for grabs in Optimism’s first onchain art competition.
Submissions close this Monday - January 8th so don’t wait!
Marketed as the “onchain American Idol” - creators can submit two pieces of art to the following categories:
Music
1/1s
AI Art
Generative Art
Simply head to this site to submit art minted across one of the following platforms.
Keep in mind that all Superchain networks are eligible - meaning you can mint your work on Optimism, Base or Zora Network.
NOTE: You must submit a newly minted piece of art - meaning you can not submit something that was already minted prior to the campaign.
Each category features a 300K prize pool broken down as follows:
1st Tier - 50K OP (~$175k) 2 winners
2nd Tier - 20K OP (~$70k) 5 winners
3rd Tier - 7K OP (~$24.5k) 10 winners
4th Tier - 1K OP ($3.5k) 30 winners
All with a unique group of judges:
Rita Alay Libera Del Curto Askenasy
Ozan Polat
Judging is broken down into the following rubric:
Originality - Does the art have a unique perspective?
Creativity - How creatively has the creator conveyed their message or idea?
Conceptual Depth - Does the work communicate some underlying meaning beyond its visual or auditory effect?
Aesthetic Impact - How impressed are the judges with the overall quality and execution of the art?
Taking a step back - We <3 the Art is a pretty historic moment for onchain art.
With Optimism on a recent tear after becoming the home for onchain music - there is literally no better way to further cement yourself in this community than by submitting a song for the contest.
When thinking of what to submit - keep the following in mind:
How does this contribute to the wider conversation around the adoption of crypto and L2s?
How does this art play into the Superchain narrative?
What is the wider story or intention behind this piece?
How will you use the prize tokens to further the intention of your submission?
More broadly - be vocal about your submission on Twitter! The intention of the competition is to celebrate onchain art - so celebrate!
Host Spaces, write articles, make content - whatever comes to mind! We are proud advocates of We <3 the Art here at Invest in Music and want to give the whole Optimism team a huge shout out for creating such a monumental contest.
We’ll be back with coverage of the winning music submissions but until then… go submit some art!
